Amritsar (About this sound pronunciation; Punjabi pronunciation, historically also known as Rāmdāspur and colloquially as Ambarsar, is a city in north-western India which is the administrative headquarters of the Amritsar district – located in the Majha region of the Indian state of Punjab.

According to the 2011 census, the population of Amritsar was 1,132,761 and it is the second most populous city of Punjab. It is one of ten Municipal Corporations in the state and Karamjit Singh Rintu is the current mayor of the city. The city is situated 217 km (135 mi) northwest of state capital Chandigarh and 455 km (283 miles) northwest of New Delhi, the national capital. It is near Pakistan, with the Wagah Border being only 28 km (17.4 mi) away. The closest major city is Lahore, the second largest city in Pakistan, located 50 km (31.1 mi) to the west.

DAY : 01 | Pick up and Proceed to Amritsar

Pick up and Proceed to Amritsar Pick up from Jammu and drive to Amritsar (200 Kms/ 5 Hours). which is the spritualcentre of Sikhism and home to the Shri Harminder Sahib (Golden Temple). Check into the hotel. In the evening, visit India-Pakistan Wagah border and watch the famous retreat ceremony which is performed at this place every evening before sunset. Overnight stay at Amritsar.

DAY : 02 | Sightseeing at Amritsar

Sightseeing at Amritsar After breakfast, check out from hotel and visit the famous Golden Temple which has a unique Sikh architecture. It is built at a level lower than the surrounding land level and has four gates. Later, visit Jallian Wala Bagh which is adjacent to Golden Temple. Jallian Wala Bagh houses a memorial of national importance, established in 1951 to commemorate the massacre of peaceful celebrators on the occasion of the Punjabi New Year on April 13, 1919. Visit Sheetla Mandir and other local spots at Amritsar. O/n stay at Amritsar.

DAY : 03 | Departure Amritsar
